“Throughout the year, faculty and graduate students from the Purdue University Division of Dance, Purdue University Department of Theatre, and Purdue Polytechnic Institute have been exploring the relationship between technology, fabric, and dance. Repercussions and Reverberations explores the theme of impact and how one person’s actions have endless reactions. Dancers have been outfitted with a costume that incorporates embedded technology that communicates directly with the lighting instruments on stage. Due to an algorithm that gathers data from the dancers’ specific movements, the audience will witness a call and response between bodies and lights.”
