By the Way, Meet Vera Stark paints a picture of an enigmatic artist who struggles to gain purchase in an industry involved in perpetuating damaging stereotypes. What price must she pay for a lifetime of playing maids and slaves, waiting for that moment to steal the scene? We get to know this amazing woman and more about our shared American history. The costume design attempts to capture the cinematic nostalgia and period style of three distinct periods (1933, 1973, & 2003) to illuminate stereotypes and their place in film, television, and the stage.
